The Change Lab Counseling and Consulting PLLC
About
The Change Lab Counseling and Consulting is a therapy practice focused on addressing OCD experiences in a tailored, organic way to cause change and relief in those who are ready and willing to put in some (I’ll be honest) pretty demanding work.
I’m Larissa Cambel, and the best way to describe the way I do therapy is how a colleague once described my style to me:
"Some therapists are soft and gentle like clouds, and work with clients who prefer a gentler approach. You're a therapist that’ll get in the trenches with your clients and help them make it through the fire."
Everyone laughed, but, well, it’s true, and with OCD it might be the type of clinician you're looking for. OCD is sneaky, it's persistent, it's loud, and it knows exactly what to do and say to get you to do what it wants as it consumes your life. OCD grows because of an avoidance of discomfort, whatever that might be, and the way to treat it (I'm going to be very direct here) is to get really uncomfortable. And I'm good at working with this type of discomfort, and helping you work with it too.
I start with talking to you to understand what's going on and the relevant factors at play in your life that might be complicating your experience, then we work together to develop a tailored plan and approach that is paced uniquely for you. Then we get to doing some hard work where I challenge you and hold you accountable in a firm, but kind way.
A firmer, more direct approach does mean that therapy with me has an element of discomfort and demand, at least in the beginning. But many of my clients find the short-term discomfort of the work is worth the relief they experience after, and it’s given me a lot of faith and trust in the approach.
If you’re looking for someone to help you navigate your trenches and get through the fire, go ahead and reach out for a consultation. Let’s see if we can create change and get you back to the life you want to live.
